The Stedelijk Museum is the largest museum of modern and contemporary art and design in the Netherlands. Its collection includes works by Mondrian, Malevich, Matisse and the CoBrA artists, alongside design and changing exhibitions of today’s artists.
The museum combines its red-brick building from 1895 with a white modern wing, nicknamed “the bathtub”. It stands on Museumplein next to the Van Gogh Museum, so it is easy to combine both.
