Blue Boat is an Amsterdam family business offering canal cruises from the Stadhouderskade, opposite the Hard Rock Cafe. The 75-minute City Canal Cruise passes the canal ring, the Skinny Bridge, the Montelbaanstoren, 17th-century canal houses and modern architecture along the Piet Heinkade. An on-board audio system tells the story in 20 languages, and children get a special audio story and activity booklet.
The Amsterdam VR Cruise (about 75 minutes, from age 5) combines today’s canals with virtual-reality scenes of the Golden Age city.
Most boats are enclosed and heated, and almost all have a toilet. Wheelchair-accessible departures leave only from the Stadhouderskade. Suitcases, your own food and drinks, and dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed on board.
