The Oude Kerk (Old Church), founded around 1213, is the oldest building in Amsterdam. Today it is a museum and a place for contemporary art: artists are invited to create new work especially for the church, shown only here.
You can also climb the tower with a guide: 155 steps up to 67 metres, for a panorama over the city. The tower season runs from April to October (in 2026 from 25 April to 31 October), with climbs Wednesday to Sunday. Tower tickets are only sold together with a church ticket.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 10:00–18:00, Sunday 13:00–17:30.
