The Theo Thijssen Museum is housed in the Jordaan building where the Dutch writer and teacher Theo Thijssen was born on 16 June 1879. The museum occupies the former front house, once the workshop and shop of shoemaker Sam Thijssen. Visitors are welcomed at Theo Thijssen’s 1930s dining table, which serves as the museum desk.
It is a charming stop on a walk through the Jordaan for anyone interested in Amsterdam’s literary and social history.
