The Houseboat Museum is on board the Hendrika Maria, a former cargo ship from 1914 that was converted into a houseboat in 1967. You can see how the old cargo hold became a living space, how cleverly the space on board is used, and the original 1914 sleeping quarters. A video shows how the ship is maintained at the shipyard.
It is a few minutes’ walk from the Anne Frank House and a fun, quick visit for anyone curious about life on Amsterdam’s canals.
