Mr Jordaan is on the 17th-century Bloemgracht in the heart of the Jordaan, near the Prinsengracht and surrounded by studios, small shops and brown cafés. Its story began in the 1960s, when the founder offered his sofa via the local tourist office; that grew into rooms, floors and eventually the building next door.
There are singles, doubles and twins, some overlooking the canal and others the courtyard, plus spacious canal-view rooms and an attic room with rooftop views; rooms can be combined for families. Beds come with linen bedding. No parking on the Bloemgracht; buses 18 and 21 stop at Marnixplein, about eight minutes’ walk.
