The Torture Museum on the Singel explores punishment and justice in the Middle Ages. It shows more than forty instruments of punishment from across Europe, including an inquisition chair and a guillotine. Engravings and explanations in eight languages put them in context, together with stories about justice, injustice and the development of freedom and human rights.
Opening hours: daily, 10:00–23:00, which makes it one of the few museums you can visit in the evening.
