Museum Van Loon is the former canal house of the Amsterdam Van Loon family on the Keizersgracht. The house was completed in 1672 and has been open to the public since 1973. You walk through the family’s rooms and learn about the house and its residents, including its first occupant, the painter Ferdinand Bol.
The collection of art and everyday objects tells the story of Amsterdam, its people and their international connections. The garden and coach house are part of the visit, and there is a museum café.
Opening hours: daily, 10:00–17:00. Closes at 15:00 on 24 and 31 December; closed on 27 April, 25 December and 1 January.
